Is Lasix likely to cause side effects?

Just like in case of any other medications Lasix can sometimes cause side effects that can be avoided if you take it the right way. Both mild and more serious side effects are possible, but there is no way for you to determine which ones are mild and which ones are serious unless you know it for sure. However, Lasix is usually tolerated very well with just a few side effects possible, such as numbness, pain, blurred vision, constipation, stomach pain, burning, headache, dizziness, and diarrhea. The mild side effects mentioned are not supposed to be reported to your health care provider, as they are both considered to be serious enough for that.

In most cases they are actually likely to go away on their own without affecting the success of your treatment in any way. However, more serious side effects are also possible sometimes. Make sure you tell your doctor if you develop any strange or severe side effects. You will need to stop taking this medicine and talk to your health care provider as soon as possible if you develop dry mouth, drowsiness, stomach pain, fast or uneven heartbeat, light-headedness, clay-colored stools, peeling skin rash, hearing loss, jaundice, restlessness, low fever, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, muscle pain, or loss of appetite. An allergic reaction to any of the components this medicine can include any of the following symptoms: swelling of the tongue, lips, throat or face, hives, difficulty breathing and some other ones. You aren’t supposed to take Lasix at all if you have ever been allergic to any of the ingredients it contains. You also need to know that besides furosemide every tablet of Lasix may contain some other inactive ingredients, and there’s a possibility you may be allergic to some to them. You may need to have additional tests done to establish whether taking Lasix is safe for you to make sure you are not going to develop an allergic reaction.

If you took Lasix in spite of your history of an allergic reaction and got the symptoms mentioned above, seek urgent medical help and tell the doctor that will be treating you that you have used too much of Lasix. Avoid being exposed to natural sunlight or artificial rays, as your skin can be more sensitive to sunlight. It may be easier to get sunburn. To avoid it you will always need to apply plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin. The sunscreen you use must have an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15 as otherwise it may not be effective enough. Also try to wear clothes from natural fabrics and cover most sensitive areas of or skin if you have to stay in the sun for a long time. Lasix has been in the market for several years now, but new side effects are still possible. If you develop any side effects that you didn’t find anywhere and you have a reason to believe they are associated with taking Lasix – tell your doctor about them to see if they are serious enough to be treatment or are considered to be normal in the course of your treatment.
